The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commissions (NSIEC), said it has concluded arrangements to conduct local government election across the 13 local government areas of the state on November 2, 2024, for both chairmanship and councillorship seats.

Chairman of the commission, Ayuba Wandai-Usman, disclosed this to newsmen yesterday in Lafia, the state capital.

Daily Trust reports that the commission conducted the last local government election in 2021, while the tenure of chairmen and councillors ends in October, 2024.

Ayuba Wandai-Usman announced that campaigns by political parties would commence on October 18, while publication of the final list of nominated candidates would be on October 29.

He appealed to the electorate to come out en mass to participate in the exercise.

Meanwhile, the member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency of Plateau State on the platform of Labour Party (LP), Hon. Dalyop Chollom, has said the party is contesting all positions from chairmanship to councilorship in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Chollom stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Jos, the Plateau State capital, contrary to speculations that the party withdrew from the race.
