Nigeria: Thunder Wreaks Havoc in Abuja Community

Residents of Jiwa community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of FCT were on Saturday thrown into a shock following a devastating thunder in the area.

Some people were reportedly touched, while some electrical devices were destroyed.

A resident, Isiaka Sani, said many people who were caught standing or moving fell down as a result of the shock similar to that of electrical power.

He said many people got their phones or their chargers burnt as a result of the incident.

Sani further stated that a transformer was affected by the thunder which took place around 6 pm of the day.

Another resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said a worshiper who was calling prayer inside a mosque was shocked by the microphone device that he was holding on his hand and he fell.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment.
