Nigeria: Amaa 2024 Unveils Nominations for 20th Edition

The Africa Film Academy has announced the highly anticipated nominations for the upcoming 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

The nomination reveal took place in Ikeja, Lagos, with members of the jury and screener college in attendance, alongside representatives from the AFA board, including Mr. Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, Chief Operating Officer of AMAA, Mr. Tony Anih, and gala night producer Mr. Kingsley James.

The 20th edition, in partnership with Lagos State, is themed "Celebrating African Creativity." Anyiam-Osigwe highlighted the significance of this milestone event, outlining activities such as the launch of the AMAA coffee book, AMAA Africa Night of Legends, AMAA Meets Nollywood, the AMAA Africa Fashion Show and Exhibition, and the AMAA gala night.

The series of activities commenced with the unveiling of nominees and categories executed by the AMAA College of Screeners and the jury.

The AMAA coffee book launch is scheduled for October 25, followed by the Africa Night of Legends on November 1. The awards ceremony and gala night will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Centre inside Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

Anyiam-Osigwe emphasized that the 2024 AMAA aims to redefine continental awards while celebrating the brilliance of Africa's creative industry.

The nomination unveiling was hosted by popular show host Vimbai Mutinhiri Ekpenyong. Notable attendees included Mr. George Anyiam-Osigwe and his wife, Chinyere, Mr. Kennedy Anyiam-Osigwe, NFVCB ED Dr. Shaibu Husseini, and several industry luminaries.
