Nigeria: Bayelsa APC Ward Excos Nullifies Lokpobiri's Alleged Suspension, Throws Out Chairman

13 October 2024

Executive members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward 10, Toru-Ndoro in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, weekend, suspended the party's council Chairman, Mr Eniekenemi Senator Mitin.

Mitin claimed he had suspended the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, for alleged anti-party activities.

But the party, in a statement by the Ward 10 Chairman and Secretary, Tankazi Anthony and Ederekumor Andakuroyeg, urged members of the public not to recognize Mitin as Chairman of the party in the Ekeremor council area.

Mitin was suspended indefinitely for alleged anti-party activities, fictionalisation, high handedness and abuse of office.

The statement reads: "This is to notify the general public that after an enlarged Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held by APC members of Ward 10 in Ekeremor LGA, on the 11th of October, 2024, at Toru-Ndoro in Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa State, the following decisions were reached to wit:

"The Chairman of APC in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Eniekenemi Senator Mitin is hereby indefinitely suspended from the party commencing from today, the 11th of October, 2024.

"The suspension of Senator Mitin is a result of anti-party activities, fictionalisation, high handedness and abuse of office which is inimical to the reputation of the party.

"The members of the general public are advised not to recognize or deal with Mitin Eniekene as a member of the party until further notice."

Recall that a High Court sitting in Yenogoa had nullified the congresses held between September and October 2021.
