Nigeria: Kano Assembly Assures Hisbah Board of Improved Welfare Package

17 October 2024

The Kano State House of Assembly has said it is committed to ensuring an improved welfare package for Hisbah Personnel in the state.

Member representing Minjibir constituency Alhaji Abdulhamid Abdul indicated this while receiving the deputy Commander General of the Kano state Hisba Board, Dr Mujahideen Abubakar, at the Assembly complex on Wednesday.

Earlier, Abdulhamid Minjibir sponsored a bill calling for the upward review of remuneration and allowances for the Hisba Corps and its absorption into the civil service to ensure effective service delivery.

He explained that due to the board's critical role, the House will look into amending the law establishing the Board for subsequent approval by the executive, emphasizing the importance of following up on it.

In his remarks, the Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr Abubakar, commended the member for his foresight in sponsoring the bill.

He pointed out that Kano state hisbah will not relent in its efforts to sanitise the state from all vices, contrary to the board's mandate.

Hon Minjibir had on Monday 14th, October 2024, presented a motion calling on the Kano state House of Assembly to look into the possibility of reabsorbing hisbah personnel into the state civil service in addition to the upward review of their remuneration and allowances.
