The Asia External Representation Office of the African Development Bank Group, in collaboration with The Korea-Africa Foundation, the Seoul National University Asia Africa Center, and the African Development Institute (ADI), is organizing a policy seminar titled "Strengthening Africa's Resilience: Continuous Skill Building and Capacity Enhancement for Development Challenges."

This seminar will draw upon Korea's successful development models across various sectors, exploring how these experiences can be adapted to enhance continuous skill building and capacity enhancement to address the complex development challenges faced by the African continent.

Participants will include development practitioners, civil society organizations, academics and think tanks, students, the private sector, government officials, diplomats, journalists, and the public.

The seminar is particularly timely following the historic June 2024 Korea-Africa Summit, during which Korea hosted, for the first time since its founding, leaders from African nations and international organizations, including the President of the African Development Bank Group. This summit marked a pivotal moment in Korea's engagement with Africa, highlighting a commitment to strengthening partnerships and fostering mutual growth.

Discussions at the seminar will focus on building resilient systems and enhancing stakeholder capabilities, aligning directly with the African Development Bank's 10-Year Strategy (2024-2033). This alignment ensures that the seminar is not only relevant but also instrumental in advancing current development initiatives in Africa.

The seminar aims to catalyze discussions on collaboration, exploring opportunities to leverage Korea's development experience, particularly in areas such as education, technology, and infrastructure, to support Africa's growth trajectory. It will provide a platform for African and Korean scholars, youths, policy experts, and other stakeholders to build and strengthen productive networks and relationships.

This event represents a crucial step in reinforcing the Korea-Africa partnership and building a resilient future for the African continent. Join us in this important dialogue as we work together to address the development challenges that lie ahead.

Featured Speakers

The seminar will feature prominent speakers, including:

  • Prof. Kilkon Ko, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University
