Nigeria: Reshuffle Economic Team, Not Inconsequential Ministries, Udeogaranya Tells Tinubu

3 November 2024

Former 2019 APC presidential aspirant, Chief Charles Udeogaranya, has criticized recent ministerial changes made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling them "changes in the wrong places that will not yield the desired results."

Udeogaranya argued that what Nigerians truly need is an improvement in economic conditions, which, he says, cannot be achieved through the current ministerial reshuffling.

Udeogaranya highlighted global events that could impact economic strategies, emphasizing the potential influence of the upcoming U.S. presidential election. He noted that the European Union (EU) is already drafting action plans in preparation for a potential Trump presidency, which could introduce high tariffs on EU goods and other restrictive measures that may affect economies worldwide.

Expressing concern, Udeogaranya claimed that Tinubu's economic team appears to lack both a sense of urgency and a proactive strategy. He urged the President to overhaul and inject new, capable leaders into his economic team if he is committed to achieving a better economy for Nigeria.
