Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, NBCC has revealed plans to launch British trade centre in Nigeria, a platform to serve as a resource centre for anyone making enquires about trade and investment in Britain.
Director General, NBCC, Dr Ebere Njokwu, said this at a media briefing in Lagos, to announce plans to award individuals and corporate members and non members of the Chamber who have done well within the first year of the sitting president.
She said: "Going forward we are about to launch British trade centre right here in the chamber to serve as a resource centre for anybody making enquires about trade and investment in Britain. Open to public and members.
"We are here to foster relationships between Nigeria and Britain, beyond trade, to share culture and development.
"The awards to be given are credible and would be given to highly credible individuals under this administration. At the dinner, there would be highlights of culture and entertainment; programs that stand out under this administration within one and a half year".
She said one of the achievements of the administration was the incorporation of a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO for women and youths skill enhancement, adding that over 400 people have been screened, about 300 shortlisted while the second cohort would graduate by the end of November.
Meanwhile, the 2024 annual Presidential Dinner and Awards to celebrate business leadership and bilateral trade relationship is scheduled to hold on November 20 2024, at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Earlier, Chairman of the Presidential Dinner/Awards, Mr Tajudeen Ahmed, said: "We use the dinner as an opportunity to speak to our stakeholders, Nigerian and British businesses, members and non members of the chamber to showcase what we have done in the years gone by and what the chamber has for different stakeholders".
