Nigeria: DSS Invites Kebbi Vanguard Correspondent Over Story Published On Assault On Journalist

-- Kebbi State Command of the Department of State Service, DSS, has invited the Kebbi correspondent of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr Haruna Aliyu, over a story published on the assault by a DSS personnel, Mr. Shuaibu Zubair, on Aliyu.

Aliyu narrated that "About 11 a.m., on Monday (yesterday), a strange number was used to call me, which was followed by a text message which read "Please call me, I am calling from DSS office Kebbi State.

"However, I returned the call about 1:35p.m., only to be told that the state Director was inviting me to the office for unexplained reasons."

Vanguard gathered that the invitation maynot be unconnected to a threat and intimation story published about a DSS personnel, for allegedly assualted and threatened to kill Aliyu following a misunderstanding between them over electricity bill, witnessed by other co-tenants.

The correspondent, who had raised concerned over his life, for doing his job, said: "The public should note that DSS office Kebbi Command is my last engagement in case am not seen again after the honouring their invitation."
