Liberia: Greenville Port Management Conducts Massive Community Service

-Conducts extensive clean up exercise in port communities in Observance of Prez. Boakai's 80th Birthday

In observance of the Birthday of the President of the Republic of Liberia, on Saturday, 30th November 2024, the Port Director, Management and Employees of the Samuel Alfred Ross Port of Greenville conducted a large-scale clean-up exercise in various communities in Greenville City, Sinoe County to promote environmental cleanliness.

The Clean-up exercise led by Cllr. Sylvia Tarley, Director of the Port, was carried out by volunteers composed of port employees and residents of the communities in Teah's Town, Seebeh, and Geekloh Communities in Greenville City.

Cllr. Tarley, Port Director, presented tools such as Wheel Borrows, Cutlasses, Brooms, Rakes and food to the Tools to the residents of the communities as part of the initiative to motivate and empower them for the clean-up effort.

During the opening ceremony, Cllr. Tarley highlighted the importance of community service and expressed that the exercise was a gesture of appreciation for the President's commitment to the ARREST Agenda, which included keeping our communities and environment clean.

"The essence of today's exercise is to provide service to the community instead of the usual merry making. The President has a lot of great plans for Sinoe; his desire as indicated in the ARREST Agenda is a priority for Sanitation and clean environment so we thought it wise to honor him on his birthday by working with the Community to clean their environment." Cllr. Tarley said

Moving forward, Director Tarley noted, the Port of Greenville plans to continue community engagement initiatives supported by Managing Director, Hon Sekou H. Dukuly, the Board and the Management of the National Port Authority in Monrovia.

The community members expressed gratitude for the initiative and appreciated the Director's thoughtful gesture in celebrating the President's birthday with them through the Clean-up exercise and supply of tools and food.

On their behalf, Elder Isaac Sneh, Chairman of Seebeh Community expressed gratitude to the Port Director for being so farsighted and generous in celebrating the President's birthday with the Communities.

"Like others, the Port Director could have chosen to celebrate this day without thinking about us, but because she's a mother with a heart of gold, she thought it necessary to come to us especially for the Celebration of the President's first birthday under her leadership.
