4 December 2024

Abuja — The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved an unprecedented increase in the subvention to Ambrose Alli University (AAU), raising it from ₦41 million to ₦500 million.

This move is being hailed by the university's management and the Students Union Government (SUG) as a timely and significant intervention aimed at revitalizing education in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday the SUG President, Austin Jonathan, expressed deep gratitude to the governor for his commitment to improving the educational sector in Edo State.

Jonathan stated that the increased subvention would have a profound impact on the university's infrastructure, research capabilities, and overall academic excellence.

Recall that the SUG had last week urged the governor to reverse the recent hike in tuition fees and to enhance the state's financial support for the university.

With the governor's decision, the students have expressed confidence that the new funding will foster transformative growth at AAU.

Jonathan said, "We, the students Union government (SUG) and management of Ambrose Alli University, are deeply grateful for your administration's generous decision to increase our subvention fund from ₦41 million to ₦500 million.

"This increased funding will undoubtedly have a profound impact on our university's infrastructure, research capabilities, and overall academic excellence."/

"We are confident that this increased funding will be a catalyst for transformative growth and development at Ambrose Alli University."
