Nigeria: Miners Laud Okpebholo, Want Multiple Taxation Checked

Benin City — The Edo state chapter of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) have congratulated the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo on his electoral victory and urged him to address the issue of multiple taxation affecting them.

In a statement by the chairman and Secretary of the association, Mr Mike Okhumode and Engr. Fatai Jimoh, the association appealed to the Governor to be magnanimous in victory by operating an all-inclusive government for the purpose of developing the state.

While describing the governor as a man of intellect and a performer judging from his previous records as a public servant, the miners called on the Governor to urgently take a cursory look into the issue of double taxation and insecurity.

The association noted that the double-edged sword has become retrogressive to businesses across Edo state.

The miners solicited the support of the new administration to help address the challenges in the sector in the state.

"We are fully aware of your antecedent in both public office and in private capacity and also know that you will not fail to deliver on your campaign promises to the people of Edo state.

"Electioneering has come and gone, as you settle down to the business of developing the state, we urged you to be magnanimous in victory by embracing all shades of opinions and suggestions aimed at developing our dear state," it stated.

However, the miners appealed to the people for support for the new government to succeed in building a new Edo.
