Nigeria: Hussieni Advocates for Excellence in Nollywood Filmmaking

The Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini, has emphasized the need for Nollywood stakeholders to strive for excellence in film making.

Speaking at the 6th Annual Gathering of the Nollywood Creative Minds Forum (NCMF), Husseini commended the organization for creating a platform for industry growth through networking and collaboration.

Husseini commended the forum for facilitating partnerships and collaborations between Nollywood creatives and industry stakeholders.

"I congratulate the leadership of the forum and urge them to continue to facilitate discussions on industry trends, challenges and opportunities, with a focus on shaping the future of Nollywood," he added. He urged stakeholders to continue striving for excellence, emphasizing that the pursuit of a better filmmaking tradition requires a collective effort.

Shaibu acknowledged Nollywood's tremendous growth, citing a significant increase in production quality, audience engagement, and global recognition. "This year alone saw a 120% surge in revenue at the box office and an increase in ticket purchases" the film critic and cultural expert further averred.

He emphasized the importance of quality storytelling, professionalism, and embracing new technologies in achieving excellence in filmmaking.

Speaking further, Husseini also identified embracing new technologies, techniques, and ideas as well as fostering cooperation, and knowledge sharing, as conditions necessary for achieving excellence in filmmaking.
