Nigeria: ...Enforcement Begins in Kwara

4 February 2025

The Kwara State Police command at the weekend commenced the enforcement of the third party vehicle insurance as directed by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The policy requires all vehicle owners to secure a third-party insurance policy before operating on Nigerian roads.

Daily Trust reports that the officers were seen on major roads across the metropolis during the exercise led by the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya.

The CP, who said the enforcement is being coordinated alongside the DC Operations, among others, warned that officers must maintain a high level of professionalism not to tarnish the image and integrity of the police while carrying out the exercise.

Speaking to our reporter on the exercise, police spokesperson, SP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said, "No arrest was made.

"It's just a kind of sensitisation for the people to do the needful, especially on the first day. Maybe there will be a grace period of like one week, but I don't know for now."
