Nigeria: APC Govs Visit Buhari in Kaduna, Reaffirm Party Unity

Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna, emphasizing the party's unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after the closed-door meeting, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), emphasised that the visit demonstrated the strength and unity of the APC.

He explained that it was a timely gesture following the conclusion of Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. He noted that it was important for the governors to honour the former president, who served two terms under the ruling party.

Uzodinma described Buhari as a father figure in Nigerian politics and expressed happiness at seeing him in good health and high spirits. He praised Buhari for his leadership, noting that his efforts had laid the groundwork for the APC's continued dominance in Nigeria's political arena.

"This visit symbolises respect, loyalty, and continued appreciation for the statesmanship, leadership, and legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari," Uzodinma stated. "As a party, we remain united and committed to the ideals of good governance which he championed during his tenure."

He assured that the APC remains Nigeria's largest and most formidable political force and is well-positioned to maintain its strength ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who hosted the visit, also praised Buhari, describing him as a father, leader, and statesman whose influence continues to guide the party. He added that the visit was also an opportunity to wish Buhari well as he settles into his newly renovated Kaduna home.

In addition to Uzodinma and Uba Sani, other governors who attended the visit were Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Hyacinth Alia (Benue). The Deputy Governor of Katsina State and the Minister of Budget and National Planning were also present, along with other dignitaries.
