The Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) function of the African Development Bank Group, in partnership with the Bank's Country Office in Tanzania, will host an event to share findings from an impact evaluation of the Bank Group's Support to Maternal Mortality Reduction Project.
The event will explore insights, discuss lessons learned, and identify strategies for aligning health infrastructure investments with national priorities. It will also address innovative financing models to sustainably improve maternal and child health outcomes.
The Bank-funded project, implemented from 2006 to 2015, aimed to reduce maternal and child mortality by enhancing health infrastructure and services in Zanzibar and parts of mainland Tanzania. Findings from the evaluation offer critical evidence to guide future projects under the Bank's Strategy for Quality Health Infrastructure in Africa (SQHIA 2022-2030).
Additional details about the evaluation can be found on the IDEV website. Read more about the Support to Maternal Mortality Reduction Project here.
