Liberia: LP Celebrates 20th Anniversary

- The Liberty Party, a key member of the ruling Unity Party Alliance, has commenced celebrations marking its 20th anniversary, highlighting its commitment to democratic values and visionary leadership.

The celebration's centerpiece was a major event held at the party's national headquarters in Monrovia, where leaders, supporters, and well-wishers gathered to honor the party's legacy. During the event, the official portrait of the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, the party's esteemed founding father, was unveiled, and a memorial hall dedicated in his name was inaugurated.

In recognition of key contributors to the party's growth, two significant spaces within the headquarters were renamed. The Eugene Fallah Kpaka Conference Room and the Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence Secretariat Office were dedicated to notable party figures, with Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the party's current Political Leader, being honored for her steadfast leadership.

Senator Karnga-Lawrence, speaking at the event, paid tribute to Brumskine, describing him as a mentor and visionary leader whose principles of justice, democracy, and adherence to the rule of law have profoundly shaped the party.

The anniversary celebration, themed "Liberty Party: 20 Years of Democratic Legacy to Cherish," commenced with youth-focused initiatives, including a strategic dialogue and the launch of the NKL Youth Dialogue platform. This platform aims to foster intellectual exchange, promote reconciliation, and empower young people in politics.

One of the event's highlights was a Women's Queen Contest, which promoted unity and female participation through a unique birth month-themed competition.

Additionally, founding members were recognized for their unwavering dedication to the party over the past two decades. A membership booth was also established to welcome new members and facilitate renewals for existing partisans.

The Liberty Party's week-long celebration will continue with various activities focused on re-enforcing its commitment to democratic values and national development.
