Liberia: Amb. Yorlay Begins Official Diplomatic Engagements in Portugal

Lisbon — Liberia's newly appointed Ambassador to Portugal, Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr., has begun his diplomatic engagements in the Portuguese Republic with a series of high-level meetings ahead of his credential presentation to the President of Portugal.

On Friday, 23 May, at 10:30 a.m. local time, Ambassador Yorlay met with Madam Fernanda Coelho, Deputy Secretary-General at Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and formally presented a clean copy of his letters of credence.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yorlay outlined Liberia's current priorities, emphasizing the government's focus on Economic and Development Diplomacy.

Following this, the Ambassador held discussions with Mr. Francisco Vaz Patto, Chief of State Protocol, who briefed him on the official procedures for presenting credentials to the President of the Portuguese Republic.

Ambassador Yorlay is scheduled to present his letters of credence to His Excellency Marcelo Nuno Duarte Rebelo de Sousa, President of Portugal, on Monday, 26 May 2025.

During the ceremony, he will convey a special message from Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., affirming Liberia's commitment to strengthening diplomatic and bilateral ties with Portugal.

Ambassador Yorlay arrived in Lisbon on 22 May and reported that all arrangements for his mission have been progressing smoothly.
