The final of this year's Federation Cup between debutants Abakaliki FC and Kwara United will be held on June 28 at the magnificent Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena Lagos.
This was revealed exclusively to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity by a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Our source said the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, Remo Stars Sports Complex and Bwari Township Stadium were weighed before the NFF finally settled for the iconic stadium in Lagos.

"The final of the 2025 edition of the Federation Cup will be staged at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena Lagos on Saturday, June 28.
"Other stadiums like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Remo Stars Stadium and the remodeled Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja were considered but the NFF decided to take the final of the competition to its traditional home ground.
"So, after successfully hosting last edition, Mobolaji Johnson Stadium will have the honour of hosting this year's final again," he said.
It will be recalled that the then newly promoted El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri stunned favourites Abia Warriors 2-0 in the 2024 final for their third title.
Built in 1930, the 10,000 capacity Onikan Stadium, remodeled and renamed Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena in 2019 by the Lagos State government and other stadiums like National Stadium Surulere, Teslim Balogun Stadium and Agege Township Stadium, all located in Lagos, have hosted the highest number of Federation Cup matches beginning from when the competition was known as Governors Cup, Nigeria Challenge Cup; Coca-Cola FA Cup; Nigeria Federation Cup; the Aiteo Federation Cup and now President's Federation Cup.
2025 Federation Cup finalists
The two finalists, Abakaliki FC and Kwara United will be appearing in the final for the first time since the inception of the competition in 1942.
While Abakaliki FC are debutants who have successfully turned themselves into giant killers, Kwara United are not newcomers but couldn't reach the final before now.
Therefore, it will be a historic moment for the eventual winner of the oldest inter-club football competition in Nigeria.
To reach the final, Kwara United piped six-time champions Enugu Rangers 1-0 while Abakaliki FC shocked favourites Ikorodu City 5-4 on penalties in the other semi-final match.
