Where: Libreville, Gabon

Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and African Development Bank Group President Akinwumi Adesina will officially open a pumping station in the PK5 district of the Gabonese capita, Libreville on Monday June 16 in Libreville,

Following the inauguration ceremony, the two leaders will meet residents of the Libreville neighbourhoods that have benefited from the programme, which strengthens drinking water supply infrastructure to enhance quality of life for the people of Gabon.

The pumping station is part of The Libreville Integrated Water Supply and Sanitation Program, an integrated drinking water and sanitation initiative that cost €117.40 million. It was financed by the African Development Bank (€75.4 million) and the Africa Growing Together Fund (€42 million), which the Bank Group manages. The PK5 water pumping station has daily capacity of up to 57,600 cubic metres of water.

The programme was approved in October 2018 by the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group.

Bank president Adesina will hold talks with senior government figures in Gabon on the current state and prospects for cooperation between Gabon and the Bank, as well as ambitions and priorities in the new National Development Plan 2025-2032.
