State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has urged aspiring political leaders to base their campaigns on issues that affect the broader population rather than catering to individual interests or relying on propaganda.
Musasizi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rubanda East and the Rubanda District NRM Chairperson, made the remarks while addressing Christians at Hamurangara Catholic Hiika in Rwarujongo Village, Igomanda Parish, Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District.
Drawing on his 15-year political career, Musasizi attributed his electoral success to consistently championing development projects that benefit entire communities..
He entered Parliament in 2011 after defeating then-State Minister for Local Government Ahabwe Godfrey Pereza and has retained his seat in the 2016 and 2021 general elections.

Following his 2021 victory over former Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, President Yoweri Museveni appointed him Minister of State for Finance.
"When we first sought the people's mandate fifteen years ago, we based our campaigns on the Mass-Line approach, declaring all community members as our political agents. Then we built a people-centered campaign that earned us trust," Musasizi said, referencing the 2010 NRM primaries.
He emphasized that his focus has always been on lobbying government to extend essential services such as roads, water, electricity, healthcare, and education--projects he said uplift large segments of the community.
"Some politicians build their campaign strategies around selected individuals. That is unsustainable. Today someone supports you; tomorrow they don't. I have been winning because I'm a people's MP. All my achievements are people-centered," he added.
Musasizi also took a swipe at his opponents, accusing them of relying on falsehoods and smear campaigns.
He advised his supporters to counter such tactics by showcasing his record of service delivery instead of retaliating with personal attacks.
He addressed recent criticism about unresolved issues on key local roads, including the junction linking Igomanda Parish to the Nyamweru-Kyocezo road and another section of the Hamurwa-Keerere road, locally referred to as "Road Toll."
"When we were campaigning last year, one of the urgent demands was the Butambi Road in Kyocezo Parish," he said.
"I asked for patience, and now that road has been rehabilitated, connecting the area to Mparo in Rukiga District. We haven't secured funding for all the pending roads yet, but we are working on it," he explained.
Musasizi was recently re-elected as Rubanda NRM Chairperson with 503 votes, trouncing his challengers Diaz Drake Owoyesigyire (43 votes) and Jackson Tumweboneire (0 votes).
He has also picked up nomination forms to contest for re-election as Rubanda East MP, with the NRM primary elections scheduled for July 16, 2025, according to the party's roadmap.
