Nigeria: Edo Records 1,426 Fire Incident Cases in 3 Years

The Chief Superintendent of Fire, Federal Fire Service in Edo State, Obasi Ikenna, has disclosed that the agency attended 1,426 cases of fire incidents in the state in the last three years.

Ikenna disclosed this at a community sensitisation programme on fuel tanker fire incidents and related hazards, organised by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Benin Office, in collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)

Represented by DSF Abu Jubril Jimoh of the Inspection and Investigation unit of the agency, Obasi said, "493 cases of fire incidents were recorded and attended to in 2022; 469 cases in 2023, 364 cases in 2024 and 100 cases in 2025."

Earlier, NEMA's Head of Operations, Benin Office, Mr Kenoma Ojuedere, said the sensitisation was to educate stakeholders and communities on the dangers of fuel tanker fire and scooping of petroleum products.
