Nigeria: FCT Poll - YPP Unveils Chairmanship Candidate for Abaji Council

Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko has emerged as the chairmanship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the February 21, 2026, chairmanship election in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

Abuja Metro reports that Loko, who is the sole candidate of the party, emerged through affirmation, supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Wale Martins, who is also the returning officer in the election held on Saturday, said the chairmanship candidate emerged through affirmation in line with the YPP's constitution and extant election laws.

He said an Option A4 was adopted, which he said was in line with the party's guidelines, and 100 delegates were accredited, from which Loko received 98 votes. He also affirmed the ten councilorship aspirants as the party's candidates for the council.
