Nigeria: Parents Commend Wike Over Teachers' Strike Suspension

A cross-section of parents in Bwari Area Council has commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his intervention in the industrial dispute between primary school teachers and the six area council chairmen.

Abuja Metro reports that the industrial action led to the closure of public primary schools in the FCT for approximately three months.

The strike was officially called off last week following Minister Wike's intervention.

Speaking on the full resumption of pupils in schools across the area, parents in Bwari expressed their gratitude to Wike for successfully resolving the crisis.

Mallam Isa Salami urged the minister to continue monitoring the council chairmen to prevent similar crises in the future.

Mrs. Rhoada John appealed to the teachers to extend the current term for pupils, allowing them to recover from the learning loss incurred during the strike.
