Nigeria: Awujale's Blessings, People's Support Made Me President in 2023 - Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday paid a glowing tribute to the late Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, whose 8th-Day Fidau prayer was held at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

Tinubu, whose Presidential aircraft touched ground at exactly 12: 45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, was received by the former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, as the "traditional firstborn" of Ijebuland before proceeding to Ogbagba Court in Igbeba, the late Awujale's private residence, where he signed the condolence register opened for the departed Ijebu monarch.

Accompanied by some members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and all sitting and former members of the National Assembly (NASS), the president thereafter proceeded to the Dipo Dina Stadium, where the leadership of the Islamic faith was already waiting for him for the 8th-Day Fidau Prayer.

Speaking at the event, the president extolled the virtues of the late Ijebumonarch, Oba Adetona, whom he described as a leader of "conscience and dignity".

Tinubu emphatically declared that, were it not for the royal blessings of the revered Ijebu monarch, backed by the people's support, he probably wouldn't have become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria dur
