Nigeria: Vigilante Leader Slumps, Dies in Abuja

6 August 2025

The chairman of the Fulani vigilantes in the FCT, Ibrahim Adamu, has reportedly slumped and died at his residence at Gosa village, in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

A relative, Usman Yakubu, said the incident occurred on Friday around 11:27 am as Adamu was preparing to attend a security meeting in Abuja.

Yakubu explained that the chairman had just returned home after withdrawing money from a POS stand when he suddenly collapsed.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby clinic where he was confirmed dead.

The chairman of the FCT chapter of the Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Wakili Madugu, confirmed the incident to our reporter over the phone.

He noted that Adamu, who was believed to be hale and hearty, slumped and died in his compound on Friday morning.

"In fact, we were supposed to attend a security meeting with him concerning an incident, and I even sent him money for transport. But about an hour later, I received a call that he had slumped and died," Madugu said.

He said his remains had since been buried at the Muslim burial ground in the community and extended his condolences to the family over their loss.
