What: High Level Side event "From Pledges to Plates: Financing Africa's Agriculture and Food Systems" at the Africa Food Systems Forum

Where: Diamnadio, Knowledge Hub, Dakar, Senegal and via livestream

The African Development Bank Group will hold a side event during the Africa Food systems Forum in Dakar, to initiate and catalyze dialogue, share lessons and promote collaboration among development partners on scaling investments to achieve food security in Africa. The event will take place on 3 September at 8:30 am.

It will feature ministers, development partners, and private sector leaders engaging in dialogue around innovative financing mechanisms, strengthening of delivery platforms, and increased accountability for food systems transformation.

The event will also provide an opportunity to present the current implementation status of commitments--including national compacts-- agreed during the landmark Dakar 2 Summit, track delivery progress, highlight innovations in financing and technology deployment, and deepen accountability for Dakar 2 outcomes. The Dakar 2 Summit on Feed Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience was held from 25 to 27 January 2023 in Senegal. The event led to the adoption of national Food and Agriculture Delivery Compacts with measurable indicators to accelerate investment, policy reform, and agricultural transformation across Africa

Key Focus Areas will include financing innovations for smallholder farmers and Agri-SMEs; development of public-private partnerships for inclusive value chains

and promotion of climate resilience, youth engagement, and gender inclusion
