The just-concluded 2025 Yola Annual Polo Festival lived up to its reputation as a spectacular blend of heritage, unity, and sporting excellence. For six electrifying days, the Lamido Musdafa Polo Ground in Damare, Yola, came alive with vibrant crowds, royal presence, and thrilling contests that confirmed the fiesta as one of Nigeria's finest showcases of tradition and polo mastery.
Over 25 teams thrilled thousands of fans in fiercely contested matches, with defending champions Malcomines of Jos once again emerging the standout performers. Powered by patron Murtala Laushi, Malcomines claimed the festival's biggest prize, while their second side, Crown Club Resort, clinched the prestigious Lamido Cup.
Home favorites Yola Haske & Williams gave fans plenty to celebrate as patron Abdulrahman Bashir Haske led his sides--Haske & Williams and Bijou Africa Race--to victories in the Governor's Cup and another Lamido Cup respectively. Bauchi's Valadora team also enjoyed podium glory, while Jalingo's Sadauki Star Boys etched their names in history by capturing the hotly contested Emir of Mubi Cup.
The closing ceremony saw winners of several subsidiary trophies--including the Wali Adamawa Cup, Umar A. Marafa Cup, Window Agro Allied Cup, and Sardauna Adamawa Cup--honored in a display that underlined the festival's depth of competition.
