Nigeria: Nut Honours Gov Fintiri With Golden Award of Excellence

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has honoured the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, with the Golden Award of Excellence for Education and Teacher Friendliness.

The prestigious award was presented to the governor at Eagle Square, Abuja, during the 2025 World Teachers' Day Celebration held on October 5 2025. The event, themed "Empowering Teachers for a Resilient Education System," brought together teachers from across the country, state governors, education commissioners, the Minister of Education, and other key stakeholders in the education sector.

Speaking during the presentation, the national leadership of the NUT commended Governor Fintiri for his administration's unwavering commitment to improving the education sector through massive investment in infrastructure, teacher recruitment, timely payment of salaries, and continuous training and retraining of teachers.

The union noted that under his leadership, Adamawa State has recorded remarkable progress in basic and secondary education, making it a model for other states to emulate.

Governor Fintiri, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the NUT for the recognition, dedicating the award to teachers in Adamawa State for their hard work, resilience, and dedication to shaping the future generation. He reaffirmed his government's commitment to sustaining reforms that will continue to strengthen the education sector and uplift the teaching profession.
