The African Development Bank and the Government of Algeria jointly organised, from 5 to 7 October 2025 in Algiers, a fiduciary clinic to help project coordinators and managers involved in Bank supported projects improve their project management and procurement skills.
More than 60 senior officials from six government ministries and other public entities participated in the training which aims to reduce compliance risks and enhance operational efficiency.
"This workshop reflects the shared determination of the Algerian government and the African Development Bank Group to work together to enhance the performance of the project portfolio in Algeria," said Nawal Lammari, Management Officer at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Relations, Ministry of Finance, during the opening session.
Hadji Malick Soumaré, Bank Group Chief Regional Procurement Coordinator, and Alain Nna Ebono, Bank Group Chief Regional Financial Management Coordinator for North Africa led sessions combining technical presentations and operational clinics. Participants had opportunity to explore budget planning and execution, procurement procedures, risk management, results-based monitoring, and the use of the Bank's digital tools.
"By investing in training and mastery of the Bank's procedures, we directly contribute to improving portfolio performance in Algeria and strengthening national implementation capacity," said Léonce Yapo, Bank Group Country Economist for Algeria, speaking on behalf of Country Manager Dileita Abdoulkader. "Compliance and rigor in procurement processes are essential pillars of sound public financial management," he added.
The workshop is part of the African Development Bank Group's broader strategy to strengthen institutional capacity and governance in its regional member countries.
