Nigeria: Bandits Abduct 10 in Kebbi, Police Rescue Six

4 November 2025

Bandits have abducted 10 people during coordinated attacks on Tungar Wazga and Unguwar Chiroma communities in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

While police said 10 people were kidnapped during the attack, Aliyu Bena, a resident, claimed the number of abductees was about 15, noting that some were freed after a gun battle between security operatives and the attackers.

He said, "I can't confirm how many are still in captivity, but about six were rescued by the police."

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the Divisional Police Officer in Danko mobilised a joint team of policemen and vigilantes, who pursued the bandits and intercepted them at Marina, a border village near Zamfara State.

"During the fierce exchange of fire, the bandits abandoned six of their victims and fled into the forest with gunshot injuries," he said, adding that the attackers had crossed into Kebbi from Zamfara.

The rescued victims -- aged between 11 and 25 -- have since been reunited with their families after medical checks.
