Nigeria: Benue Working to Rebuild Deserted Communities

12 November 2025

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has disclosed that the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia is working hard to restore the livelihoods of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and rebuild deserted communities.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management/Benue SEMA, Sir James Iorpuu, made the disclosure in Makurdi during the routine monthly distribution of foodstuff to IDPs in the state.

Iorpuu said the state government was leaving no stone unturned in its quest to bring hope, relief, and dignity to the displaced populations.

"The challenges facing these groups remain enormous, but His Excellency has continued to demonstrate remarkable compassion and determination in addressing them through practical interventions. Beyond meeting immediate needs, Governor Alia's administration is taking deliberate and strategic steps to restore livelihoods and rebuild communities," he said.
