19 November 2025

Governor Dauda Lawal has said that his administration is prioritising girl-child education and women's financial empowerment to deepen development across Zamfara State.

He said girl-child education and economic empowerment of women are the requisite necessities for the development of any society.

The governor spoke on Wednesday in Gusau when he received Comrade Aisha Burra, the National President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), at the Government House in Gusau.

NAWOJ held a three-day workshop on gender equity and safety, as well as gender-sensitive reporting for women journalists in Zamfara State.

Governor Lawal reiterated to the president that his government is an advocate for gender equity, which is why he has implemented policies promoting girl-child education and creating numerous opportunities for women.

He also assured the NAWOJ leadership that his administration is prepared to host the 19 Northern States National Conference on the empowering role of women in peacebuilding.
