Nigeria: Caddies Shine As 64th Firstbank Lagos Open Golf Tourney Tees Off

The 64th FirstBank Lagos Open Golf Tournament teed off yesterday at the Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section, with caddies taking centre stage on the opening day of the competition. The tournament continues tomorrow with the Championship Kitty, followed by the Corporate Golf Challenge for Charity on Thursday. The main event will run from Friday through Sunday.

Recognized internationally by the USGA and the R&A, the Lagos Open is one of Nigeria's longest-running golf tournaments, attracting top golfers from across the country and beyond.

This year, FirstBank is partnering with Sunbeth Global Concepts, Glenfiddich, Arravo, and Coscharis to elevate the championship. Sunbeth Global Concepts and Glenfiddich serve as Platinum sponsors, while Arravo and Coscharis are Bronze sponsors.

Abdussamad Abdurrahman, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Sunbeth, explained that the partnership aligns with the values traditionally associated with golf. Meanwhile, Babarinde Abiona, General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Coscharis, emphasized that the collaboration with FirstBank aims to enhance the tournament experience by bringing golfers and their associates together, with the added excitement of a BMW staked as a hole-in-one prize. Dr. Ayo Adegboye, CEO of Arravo, highlighted that the sponsorship reflects a commitment to promoting and growing golf in Nigeria.

FirstBank, the tournament's major sponsor, has significantly raised the stakes this year, offering N34.5 million in cash and other prizes to competitors, reinforcing its dedication to advancing the sport in the country.
