Abuja — The Nigeria Customs Service Board, has approved key leadership appointments and promotions to strengthen operational efficiency and reinforce the Service's role in Nigeria's economic transformation.
The confirmation was made at the 64th Regular Meeting of the Board in Abuja, Tuesday which was chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun
A statement issued by the Dorector, Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Manga, said the Board confirmed five Deputy Comptrollers-General, and eight Assistant Comptrollers-General in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023 and Federal Character policy.
There were also special promotions for ten officers recognised for exceptional professionalism and contribution to national revenue and security.
"These reforms support an ongoing strategy to modernise Customs operations, enhance leadership succession and improve trade facilitation, transparency and border efficiency.
"As Nigeria expands non-oil revenue streams and deepens private-sector-led growth, a more agile and technology-driven Customs Service is essential in reducing bottlenecks, improving clearance timelines and strengthening competitiveness under AfCFTA," the statement said
