Nigeria: Akpabio Hails 'Unprecedented' Political Unity in State, Elders Endorse Tinubu, Eno

Abuja — President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, weekend, acknowledged what he described as an unprecedented wave of political unity and social cohesion currently taking shape in Akwa Ibom State under Governor Umo Eno's administration.

A statement by his Media Aide, Jackson Udom, explained that the Senate President stated this at an Elders' Meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at his Ukana country home in Essien Udim Local Government Area.

Akpabio said the renewed atmosphere of harmony across political divides marked a turning point in the state's history.

He commended Eno for deliberately building bridges of peace and fostering an inclusive climate which, according to him, was vital for the state's long-term development and stability.

The meeting drew prominent party chieftains including Chief Don Etiebet, Chief Ita Toyo, Senator Ita Enang, Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, and APC Chairman Stephen Ntukekpo, all of whom echoed the call for unity and reconciliation.

They urged stakeholders to put past disagreements behind them and support the collaborative leadership emerging between Akpabio and Governor Eno for the overall progress of the state.

Eno, in his remarks, encouraged party elders to deepen their cooperation and remain focused on building a stronger Akwa Ibom.

Addressing concerns about political leadership at the grassroots, he clarified that effective coordination rests with the chapter chairmen and local government council chairmen.

In what appeared to be a unanimous display of solidarity, attendees endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno as sole candidates for the 2027 general election.
