The African Development Bank invites civil society organizations, youth networks, and development practitioners to join the second edition of the Civil Society Engagement Community of Practice (CSECoP), taking place from 8 December 2025 to 11 January 2026.
Building on the success of the inaugural edition in 2024, this year's CSECoP focuses on one of Bank Group President Sidi Ould Tah's Four Cardinal Points: harnessing Africa's demographic dividend as an engine of transformation. With Africa's young and dynamic population offering unprecedented opportunities for sustainable growth, this platform will explore how civil society can accelerate progress through education, skills development, entrepreneurship, and youth employment.
Discussions will revolve around three interconnected themes: Education and Skills Development; Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship; and Health and Wellbeing.
These conversations will take place over a month-long structured online dialogue on the AfDB Civil Society Engagement interactive platform, followed by a debrief webinar in January 2026 and a comprehensive synthesis report with policy recommendations in February.
This edition is convened by the African Development Institute (ECAD) in collaboration with the Department of Human Capital, Youth and Skills Development (AHHD), alongside three distinguished civil society partners: the African Continental Free Trade Area Young Entrepreneurs Federation (AfYEF), the African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), and Leaders de Demain (LD).
Participants will have the opportunity to share innovative practices and lessons from their communities, engage with Pan-African civil society leaders and development experts, and co-create solutions to Africa's youth employment and skills challenges.
The Civil Society Engagement Community of Practice aligns with the Bank's Ten-Year Strategy (2024-2033) to build a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and integrated Africa, recognising civil society as a compass guiding sustainable development outcomes.
