The National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) recently witnessed a smooth and 'dignified transfer' of authority as Mr. Hanson Kiazolu officially assumed the position of Director General.
The turnover ceremony, held at the institution's headquarters, marked the formal transition from outgoing Director General, Hon. J.S.B. Theodore Momo, to his successor.
In his handover remarks, Hon. Momo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and highlighted the progress made under his administration, including strengthened monitoring frameworks and improved cooperation between concessionaires and the Liberian government. He assured his successor of his full support during the transition period and encouraged staff and partners to demonstrate the same level of collaboration that characterized his tenure.
Mr. Kiazolu, in his first official address as Director General, expressed profound appreciation to the President and the Government of Liberia for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to build upon the existing foundation while introducing new strategies aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in concession management across the country.

"I am honored to take on this national responsibility," Kiazolu stated. "My leadership will prioritize stronger institutional coordination, increased oversight, and an inclusive approach that ensures concessions genuinely contribute to national growth and community development."
Representatives from various concession companies including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Western Cluster, the Managing Director (MD) of APM Terminal, and the Manager of Mano Plantation were present at the event, underscoring their commitment to continued partnership with the NBC. Many expressed optimism that Mr. Kiazolu's appointment will further strengthen government, private sector collaboration, ensuring that concession agreements are implemented in ways that benefit both the nation and investors.
The ceremony concluded with a symbolic turnover of documents and instruments of authority, followed by a tour of the facility and interactive engagements between the new Director General, staff, and concession partners.
The National Bureau of Concessions remains dedicated to promoting responsible concession governance that aligns with Liberia's development priorities and fosters sustainable economic growth.
