The provost, Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ngbo, Mrs Chetachi Jerry Usulor, has expressed concern over security and other challenges facing the institution and called for concerted effort by the state government and other individuals in the state in addressing such challenges.
She enumerated sone of the challenges to include insecurity, need for National Board for Technical Education, NBTE accreditation, perimeter fencing, hostel facilities, staff quarters, buses, and increased government subvention.
"Let me make a passionate appeal to philanthropists, corporate organizations, and well-meaning individuals to support the College in addressing these needs."
Mrs. Usulor made the disclosure during the matriculation of over 274 students into its various academic programmes held at the institution's premises in Ngbo in Ohaukwu local government area of the state.

She noted that the matriculation was another significant milestone in the institution's steady growth and commitment to health manpower development in the state.
She said that the College started in 2007 as a School of Health Technology at a temporary site in Ngbo Court Area before relocating to its permanent site and attaining full college status.
"Today, the institution operates four academic departments including Community Health, Environmental Health, Health Information Management, and Medical Laboratory Technician.
"A breakdown of the newly matriculated students shows that Community Health admitted 151 students, Health Information Management recorded 52 students, Environmental Health admitted 34 students, while Medical Laboratory Technician took in 36 students, bringing the total number of fresh students to 274.
The provost disclosed that Community Health, Environmental Health, and Health Information Management departments have secured full accreditation from their respective regulatory bodies, while accreditation for the Medical Laboratory Technician programme is expected shortly.
She stated that the College has benefited from several development projects, including buildings provided through the Health System Development Project (HSDP II), contributions from the Ministry of Health, constituency projects by Senator Chris Nwankwo as well as newly completed classroom blocks and a solar-powered facility under the current administration.
"Our students now sit for computer-based tests (CBT) for entrance examinations, departmental qualifying exams, and national professional examinations within the campus. All lecturers are proficient in the use of PowerPoint presentations, enhancing effective teaching and learning."
