Nigeria: Many Feared Killed As Bomb Explosion Rocks Zamfara Highway

28 December 2025

Two bombs went off along Dansadau-Magami road in Maru local government area of Zamfara State yesterday, killing many people and leaving several others injured.

Residents said explosives were planted by bandits who wanted to avenge the killing of their colleagues by a vigilante group known as Yansakai.

It was gathered that the vigilante group attacked the bandits' camp on Friday, killing many of them for refusing to stop attacking residents of the area even with the peace accord between them and the community.

Bandits emerged from their hiding places in large numbers and began to attack villagers, it was gathered.

Security personnel were informed and quickly engaged the bandits in a firefight.

But the bandits had planted many explosives on the road and two went off, killing many people and wounding several others.

Police spokesman Yazid Abubakar was unavailable for comment at press time.
