MONROVIA-President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has called on Liberians living abroad to return home and invest in the country, particularly in the private sector, as a way of strengthening the national economy and creating jobs.
The President made the call during the Diaspora 2025 Annual Return Dinner, held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Ministerial Complex in Monrovia to commemorate the second return of diaspora Liberians.
Speaking to over 200 Liberians who have lived in various countries around the world, President Boakai said it is time for Liberians to take full ownership of their economy. He urged citizens to learn from neighboring countries where nationals are actively investing and driving economic growth.
The president said It is time for Liberians to work together and take charge of their own economy, nothing that the government alone cannot do it. Citizens must also make their impact by investing in the country.

The Liberian leader stressed that increased private-sector investment by citizens, especially those in the diaspora, will help address the high level of unemployment in the country by creating more job opportunities for fellow citizens.
President Boakai further assured returning Liberians that his administration is committed to improving the standard of living across the country, noting that his government is working daily to introduce new measures aimed at national development.
The Liberian head of state emphasized unity as a key pillar for progress, urging Liberians at home and abroad to remain united.
The President also acknowledged the significant contributions of diaspora Liberians to national development, particularly through remittances sent to families back home, which he noted have helped support livelihoods and community development.
The event brought together Liberians who have spent many years outside the country and are now returning to explore opportunities at home.
President Boakai commended the diaspora community for their continued contribution to nation-building and encouraged more Liberians abroad to return and invest, assuring them of a conducive environment for development.

The Diaspora 2025 Annual Return is aimed at strengthening ties between Liberia and its citizens abroad while promoting investment, unity, and national growth.
