Nigeria: I'll Lead All Progressives Congress 2027 Campaign - Kalu

12 January 2026

Chairman of the Senate Committee of South East Development Commission, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has vowed to be in the forefront of All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 general election campaign.

Kalu stated this during a chat with journalists at his Neya Camp home Igbere.

He said the situation on ground required every hand to be on deck to ensure victory for the APC at all levels.

He said that during such periods before now, he used to restrict himself to his Abia North senatorial district, but has decided to work for the general victory of the party everywhere.

The one-time governor of the state expressed confidence that he would be reelected to continue with what he had been doing for the district for the past six years as a second term senator.

He strongly dismissed allegations of rigging the 2023 election as reported in the social media and challenged those behind the allegations to come up with their evidence.

"Nobody has ever accused me of rigging an election.

I don't do that. Even the people that took me to court over my victory didn't accuse me of that," noted the former Senate chief whip.

He expressed surprise that some people have been reacting negatively to his younger brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu's announced intention to run for the governorship of the state in 2027.

"What is wrong with my brother? Is there anything wrong with my brother running for the governorship of the state? The answer is definitely no," the former governor said.
