Two other suspects were also apprehended in connection with the crime.

The mother of the baby, Martina Dachung, along with Matron Ighalo Grace of Eguavon Medical Center, Uromi, and one Oha Promise, are alleged to have connived to sell the baby boy for N1.4 million.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said a woman in Uromi alerted the police after learning of the alleged trafficking arrangement and transaction.

Acting on this information, operatives of the Iruekpen Divisional Headquarters arrested Martina Dachung.

She said the newborn baby boy was safely retrieved, and the N1.4 million involved in the transaction was recovered as an exhibit.

Eno added that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed.
