Liberia: Nearly 200 Students Benefit From Rep. Jones Scholarship

Over 188 students from Margibi County Electoral District #2 have received scholarships through their Representative, Ivar K. Jones.

Margbi County, January 19, 2026: Over the weekend, Rep. Jones hosted a ceremony in Margibi County, where he presented certificates and official payment receipts to the beneficiaries of his educational scholarship program.

During the presentation, Rep. Jones emphasized his belief in making meaningful and lasting impacts in the lives of young people, especially through education.

He highlighted that the scholarship initiative, which began in 2016, has continued to support students across the district year after year.

Rep. Jones explained that the scholarship program is implemented under the banner of the Progressive Friends of Ivar Jones (PROFIJ).

This initiative focuses on promoting education, empowerment, and community development within Margibi County. Through PROFIJ, the lawmaker aims to create opportunities that foster growth and prosperity in the region.

Reaffirming his dedication, Rep. Jones promised to continue supporting educational opportunities for the district's youth, stressing that investing in education is crucial for building a stronger and more prosperous society.

He also called on parents and school administrators to devote greater time, care, and attention to the academic and moral development of children, stressing that education is a shared responsibility among all community members.

The scholarship presentation was met with excitement and appreciation from both students and their parents. Many families expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rep. Jones for his initiative, praising him for easing the financial burden of school fees. Several parents described the support as both timely and life changing.

Rep. Jones shared that the total value of the scholarship program amounts to LD 2.2 million Liberian Dollars and USD 4,127.

He reiterated his belief in equal opportunity for all, stating his commitment to ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn. "Some of those students that are benefiting from the scholarship, I don't even know, and it is today that I'm even seeing some of them," he remarked, underscoring the impartial and inclusive nature of the program. -Edited by Othello B.
