Nairobi — Tatu Coffee Estates Limited has won first and third place in the highly competitive Washed Arabica Category at the National Taste of Harvest Kenya 2025-2026 Awards, cementing its position among Kenya's leading coffee producers.

The awards, regarded as the country's top benchmark for coffee quality, recognise excellence in washed Arabica -- the category that underpins Kenya's global reputation in specialty coffee markets.

Tatu Coffee, which owns more than 6,500 acres of coffee estates in Kiambu County, impressed judges with coffees drawn from its regular production, demonstrating consistent quality at scale rather than small experimental lots. An international jury praised the coffees for their complex notes of orange blossom, red berries, marmalade and jam, alongside bright acidity, balance and sweetness.

John Sathya, Chief Executive Officer of Tatu Coffee Estates, said the recognition affirms the company's farming and processing model.

"Winning first and third place confirms that our approach delivers consistent, world-class results while supporting jobs and communities," he said.

The company is owned by Rendeavour, the developer of Tatu City, whose long-term investment model supports modern agricultural practices, infrastructure development and sustainability. Tatu Coffee supplies premium washed Arabica to specialty buyers in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.

Beyond quality, the awards highlight Tatu Coffee's economic impact. Its estates support thousands of permanent and seasonal jobs, helping sustain livelihoods in coffee-growing areas at a time when national coffee production has declined.

All Tatu Coffee estates are Rainforest Alliance certified, with sustainability measures including water recycling, reforestation, ecosystem conservation and responsible waste management. The company also invests in worker welfare through fair wages, housing, education access and a long-standing school meals programme for children from estate communities.
