Nigeria: 11 Killed in Edo Auto Crash

Eleven people have died in an accident that occurred at Okhuahe community on the Benin-Agbor Road, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

Seven others sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident that happened last Saturday.

Witnesses said the accident occurred when the driver of an 18-seater bus heading towards Lagos dangerously overtook another vehicle and had a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirmed the accident.

He said the accident involved a truck and an 18-seater bus.

He said 11 died on the spot while seven others sustained injuries.

According to him, the bus attempted to overtake another vehicle and, in the process, had a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle, killing 11 people on the spot. He said the corpses were evacuated to the morgue while the injured ones were taken to the hospital for treatment.
