Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has flagged off the distribution of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) donated by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to public basic education schools across the state.
The flag-off ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Makurdi and was performed on behalf of the governor by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode.
Dr. Ode described basic education as the foundation of child development and the bedrock of the education system, stressing that adequate teaching and learning materials are critical to achieving quality educational outcomes.
He said the distribution reflects the Alia administration's commitment to strengthening basic education, noting that the state government has complemented UBEC's intervention with additional resources such as dusters, markers, and whiteboards.
