Declaring the orientation course open, the governor urged the corps members to serve with integrity, discipline and a strong sense of purpose, stressing the importance of national service to nation-building.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Tasi'u Musa Shinkafi, Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the welfare of corps members and the overall well-being of the people of the state.

He said corps members posted to schools, ministries, departments and agencies would also receive a monthly stipend of ₦20,000 from the state government.

The governor assured the corps members of a conducive working environment throughout their one-year service, noting that his administration has rehabilitated dilapidated schools, hospitals, ministries, departments and other public institutions to meet acceptable standards.

According to him, the facilities have been adequately equipped to enhance effective service delivery across the state.

Governor Lawal described the presence of corps members in Zamfara as valuable beyond the fulfilment of statutory national service, saying they represent hope, resilience and the belief that Nigeria's diversity remains its greatest strength.

He further highlighted the role of the NYSC scheme in promoting unity, mutual understanding and a shared national purpose, especially at a time when the country faces social, economic and security challenges.

While acknowledging that security remains sensitive in some parts of the state, the governor reassured that the government is sustaining engagement with security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders and vigilante groups to ensure safety.

He urged the corps members to be law-abiding, security-conscious and respectful of the cultures and traditions of their host communities, describing the people of Zamfara as hospitable and resilient, with deep-rooted values of respect and communal living.

In his remarks, the State NYSC Coordinator, Malam Lawal Ahmad, commended the Zamfara State Government for its continued support of the NYSC scheme.
