Nigeria: Group Endorses Gov Otti for 2027 Poll

1 February 2026

The Ukwa la Ngwa bloc of Abia State has endorsed the governor, Alex Otti, for the 2027 election, pledging N100 million to procure the nomination form for him.

The speaker of the State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, announced this at civic reception organised by the bloc in honour of Otti in Aba.

He said the gesture was the response of the bloc, which comprised part of Abia Central and South "to Otti's records of successes in office in less than three years."

Responding, Otti appreciated the people for the kind gesture, assuring them that his administration would always factor in and prioritise their interests.

"This is your government. Your interest will always come first," the governor said, noting that opposition to the administration is driven by greed and selfish interests.

In his speech, the leader and spokesperson of the people, Teo Nkiri, said the event was a celebration of the great achievement of the Ukwa La Ngwa nation.

He said within the shortest possible time, Otti had revolutionised all sectors of the people's lives including transforming Aba from a small importer town to a world-class industrial hub.

The senator representing Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe, said Otti had set a new standard of governance, urging him to remain focused and to ignore the antics of the opposition.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the chairman on the occasion, Adolphus Wabara said it was in honour of a performance built on verifiable achievements rather than propaganda.
