Nigeria: 2027 - FCT Youths Urge Ex-Commissioner to Contest for Senate

2 February 2026

A youth group, under the umbrella of the FCT Concern Youth Network, has called on the former Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Comrade Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, to heed their call to vie for the FCT Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the leader of the group, Danjuma Bala Umar, said the decision followed extensive consultations across the six area councils and 858 communities, which unanimously resolved to urge the former commissioner to represent the people of the FCT in the Red Chamber.

Umar described Dalhatu, who is also the pioneer leader of the Coalition of Abuja Indigenous Associations (CAIA), as a representative of a new generation of leadership--youthful yet grounded, visionary, practical, bold, and compassionate.

According to the group, the former commissioner is a people-centered leader whose commitment to service is evident in his consistent engagement with grassroots communities.

They noted that his courage, resilience, and clarity of purpose distinguish him as a leader capable of speaking truth to power and standing firm in defense of FCT residents.

"The FCT requires a vibrant, articulate, and fearless voice at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. The former commissioner stands out as a leader who understands the realities of both indigenous peoples and residents alike," the group stated.

The network noted that, in demonstration of their conviction, they have resolved to mobilize resources to purchase his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, regardless of the political party platform he chooses.

"FCT youths are confident in his capacity to effectively articulate our concerns, defend our collective interests, and champion policies that will promote inclusive development, social justice, equity, and sustainable progress across all communities in the territory," the leader added.
